Title: JSMF 2.0RC2
Post by: -Wolverine on October 31, 2006, 10:17:26 PM
This release, JSMF 2.0RC2, is for the most part bug fixes from reported issues with version RC1. The major sections that were addressed is changing the session storage to using joomla caching globally(one cache for all users) and avatar synchronization was reworked. In addition I ironed many reported bugs with CB<->SMF integration reported from you all. Thank you for all the reports and some of the fixes as well.

There was a change to the CB SMF plugin as well which will require you to update. This improves member synchronization expecially when updating usernames.

The JSMF Login was improved to pass return addresses to keep users on the same page as they were before logging in/out. This should help some of the redirect problems(in addition to a few bug fixes in that area).

Many thanks to my testers klaudia, nick, and the whole gang. Just as many thanks to the contributing developers including Finly(JSMF Login) and Kevin who continues to test and contribute to the bridge. Special thanks to Brat for the CB plugins which required a lot of work, great job!

The improved user guide for JSMF 2.0RC2 can be found at this external link:
JSMF User Guide 2.0RC2(PDF) (http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,41/func,fileinfo/id,436/)

CB Plugins can be found in this forum topic:
CB Plugins for SMF (v2.1) (http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,2554.0)

Please report problems in this thread! If a topic needs to be split into its own topic I will make it happen. Reporting in other threads just spreads everything out and it makes it hard to verify all the reported bugs have been solved or resolved. Thx

been waiting for this...thanks for releasing it.

Will test this to see if it solve my large httpd process problem.

A note to be added : I tested Orstio's bridge and it works fine without that large httpd process and max CPU usage. But this bridge is pretty useless at it's current stage for users with CB.

When trying to sync the usernames in the backend, I get a blank page (error page) that says:

The page cannot be displayed

Also, the avatars in Community Builder Enhanced don't show in SMF yet. :'(

let me know how it goes. Well I hope.

The high load on httpd is still there. i am testing it on with 50k users and the httpd is still high at around 50-70mb. On top of that the CPU usage was high as well.

I did test the bridge from Orstio, it seems the httpd problem was not there. The only issue with Orstio bridge is there is not much configruation can be made.

The Bridge is not working with Open Sef. The Dev's ar working @ it.

It is working with the default SEF of Joomla

Thank you for this release Wolverine ;D

I did want to report an issue that I've had with RC1 that RC2 didn't resolve.

I'm using:
CB 1.01
Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1 RC3

The registration is configured to use CB while the Login is using the bridge.

For the most part, everything is working great. However, when in wrapped mode, a user tries to save their SMF profile (like a signature) an error is thrown. It works fine when it's not wrapped.

The error is:
~~~ FROM::C:\Apache2\htdocs\components\com_smf\smf.class.php || integrateChangeMemberData || 1273.
Attached is the screenshot of the error.
@Casey,
    basically what is happening is SMF is indicating there is an uploaded avatar.  But when I try to get the filename there is none found in the database.  Can you confirm that these users have an uploaded avatar?  If not, do they have any avatar?
This system is pretty new and not yet live. So the users in the system do not yet have an avatar assigned to them. Because of the nature of the site, I've configured CB in such a way that it only contains marketing and account info but no ability to upload an avatar. However, SMF will be able to handle avatars.
I still have the problem that I have reported in the RC1 (and the RC2 test). Is this fixed in the next version? Or do you have an work around for this ?
You were right about the avatar being the problem. If I select an avatar with my profile when I save, it works fine. Is there a way we could trigger the avatar syncronization based on if they are using one or not?
I give up now, i dont now which i can do. Starting from the Brige 2,0 RC1 and  RC2 i have a large problems. After paching joomla  files i became a problem with the fonds only in the contents. All letters as ĐČĆ, đčć do not  correctly indicated.Ther look like this (ĐČĆŽ,đčćž).
After repaching the Joomla files everything is fine.
So do anyone no which i can do? thanks
Title: Re: JSMF 2.0RC2
Post by: -Wolverine on November 01, 2006, 01:11:08 PM
@Casey, it should be triggering that already, meaning SMFshould not be sending me the avatar as a field to update unless it is set.  Guess I'll have to double check this and maybe make the handling a bit more robust to deal with SMF sending stuff it should not be.
I just had a thought.  One thing the bridge does load is a user array and username array in order to reformat the links.  The one thing that you site has that is unique is the large user base.  I wonder if this username and user array are the cause of this.  If so, I know how to improve this process and can make it optional.  PM me an email address where I can contact you directly and I can rewrite this functionality to see if it improves the situation.
This is something in the configuration of your site.  There are other urls that have capitals in them as well which are being reformatted to lowercase.  The bridge is not doing this.  I have tested on windows and unix and both are formatting correctly.
Two things I can think of, one, it may be a php.ini setting.  Two, it could be a problem with your version of php, specifically with the parse_url function that is used by both the bridge and by joomla sef.
The only problem I'm still having is saving the forum profile changes (with CB enabled). Before when I clicked on the Change Profile button to save the settings, it would take me to a "The page you are trying to access does not exist" But now it sends me to my CB profile and the changes are still not saved.
for now, on or around line 1273 of component/com_smf/smf.class.php change the following code:
Code:
}
let me know the result.  Also, please verify that this SMF user had *no* avatar uploaded.
component/option,com_comprofiler/Itemid,105/task,userProfile/user,406/
as an example
Itemid,42 is what the Community Builder userlist uses, which works.
Hello there.
I've experienced kinda all the discussed problems.
My actual Version Information:
Joomla version is: 1.0.11
SMF version is: 1.1 RC3
Joomla-SMF version: 2.0 beta 3
SMF CB Plugin: 2.0 (Joomlahacks)
Now, I've another problems due to different cookies TTL.
I mean, sometime happens that I see my connection UP (who's online module) but i see the JSMF Login module asking me to sign in/up...
In these cases I have to login twice or close browser to re-align the situation.
I hoped that RC1 or 2 will solve them but now I'm worried.
Wolv, do u suggest me to upgrade (both JSMF and SMF CB plugin) or to wait for the next version/release.
Please, Realize that site is now in live status...
Btw, I could re-enable your administrator credentials if you want to check it up directly.
Many many thanks in advance,
What's the appropriate installation procedure if I already have a prior JSMF 2 install? Do I uninstall all of the previous components/modules/bots? Or is there only specific ones that need to be updated?
Until the full release you need to uninstall and reinstall the bridge.  For the mambots, modules, and plugins you can extract them to the appropriate directories.  The only module that was updated in this release was the login module.  The only mambot that was updated was the discussbot was and the cb plugin was also updated.
There is an explanation on why the TTL problems exist in the FAQ located in the User Guide.
This is a bug I just identified in the bridge, not the plugins.  You should not be redirected back to the profile, if that happens none of the data was saved.  This worked previously but with the addition of the itemid to the cb profile links(per user request) it is now broken.  I just identified this problem and am working on a fix.
My users are reporting session verification errors when trying to reply to threads.
If they were logged in as remember me before your upgrade it is possible that the session got corrupted and this gets checked during posts.  Tell them to logout, clear cookies, and log back in.  If it persists let me know.
i have a question about discussbot
it's working great, but im having some extra "style" problems
before the text, there are some lines:
Code:
[style type=text/css]
  .contoursandbag span { display: none; }
  .contoursandbag-right
    {
    border: 0;
    padding: 0;
    font-size: 0;
    margin: 0 0 0 15px;
    float: right;
    clear: right;
    }
  .contoursandbag-left
    {
    border: 0;
    padding: 0;
    font-size: 0;
    margin: 0 15px 0 0;
    float: left;
    clear: left;
    }
  .contoursandbag-first { margin-top: 5px; }
  .contoursandbag-last {margin-bottom: 5px; }
  [/style]
you can see it: http://www.genchukuk.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,79/topic,84.0/
I know it's about my theme, but is there a way of hiding these lines?
another question is:
when moving a topic, i want to left a topic moved message, i use [TOPIC LINK] tag for it, but it's shown as, www.genchukuk.org/forum/index.php?topic=12.0
but i want to show it as:
What you need to do is add a definition to the search/replace array in mos_smf_discussbot.php.  Specifically, on or around line 300 find this code:
Code:
"/\[tbody\]/i",
"/\[\/tbody\]/i",
And add two lines to it so that it is like this:
Code:
"/\[tbody\]/i",
"/\[\/tbody\]/i",
"/\[style\]/i",
"/\[\/style\]/i",
That will fix the search for those tags.  Now you need a replace definition in the two replace arrays.  The first one should be at or around line 348, look for:
Code:
"[table]",
"",
"",
"[td]",
replace with
Code:
"[table]",
"",
"",
"",
"",
"[td]",
and do the same for the other replace array on or around line 395.  That will strip the style I believe.  Let me know if it doesn't and I can adjust the search to fix it.
another question is:
when moving a topic, i want to left a topic moved message, i use [TOPIC LINK] tag for it, but it's shown as, www.genchukuk.org/forum/index.php?topic=12.0
but i want to show it as:
http://www.genchukuk.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,79/topic,123.msg123
Interesting, not sure I completely understand.  You are going in and modifying the post and adding [TOPIC LINK] and this translates to a URL?
I installed yesterday the new version of the bridge : 2.0 RC2.
Later that night, i updated SMF to RC3-1, since it's a security fix.
Today, i was alerted by users and we found the following problem :
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 46707 bytes) in web/components/com_smf/smf.class.php on line 322
Could anyone give a hint to what is going on ?
and do the same for the other replace array on or around line 395.  That will strip the style I believe.  Let me know if it doesn't and I can adjust the search to fix it.Interesting, not sure I completely understand.  You are going in and modifying the post and adding [TOPIC LINK] and this translates to a URL?
thank you, that fixed my problem :)
Had to switch back to RC1. Cause the forum went crazy when it's wrapped to joomla. Couldnt create any topic of if i cliked on a button, it did something else. Users were buzzing about that.
I left the new plugin of CB and i'm now using SMF RC3-1.
Bugs found and that are still there : if i give a karma then an other one, it sends me to quite a messy page.
When i'm not logged in, and click on the profile of the last registed person, i also get an horrible page.
And the "real name vs username" is still there.
I am not sure if this has been covered. I searched but did not find any solutions.
It seems that my URL is incorrect.
index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=22&?board=5.0
There is an extra question mark (red above) in the URL causing the page to refresh and not go to the correct destination.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks
Here are screenshots of a bug in visualisation i get.
When i'm not logged in, and try to see the profile of someone, that's what i get.
I'm showing what i get when i'm in the forum (direct link to it) and when it's wrapped in joomla.
There is the same problem when i give a karma and give an other one to the same person, from the same place.
Here is also an error i found in the logs :
8: Undefined variable: menuclass
Cleaning the cache wont do it, after a few hours, it went crazy again. Had to go back to RC1. We have a lot of spammers in our forum, so we get a quick reaction if somethings works or not.
Seems we are having the same problem with the error logs. Now that i'm using RC1, i dont find it in the error logs of line 1100.
Title: Re: JSMF 2.0RC2
Post by: -Wolverine on November 04, 2006, 12:04:49 AM
line 1100 was a simple change and won't effect how the bridge works, funcitonally speaking.  The other links issues def have me concerned although other high traffic sites haven't reported issues just yet.
To clean you cache simply go into jsmf configuration and click save.
It is apparent that something is corrupting some of the caches, or they are getting crosslinked somehow.  I am out of town until Sunday so I won't be able to look at this until sunday night at the earliest.  If you are using a live site I recommend waiting to upgrade to RC2.
This is a bug I just identified in the bridge, not the plugins. You should not be redirected back to the profile, if that happens none of the data was saved. This worked previously but with the addition of the itemid to the cb profile links(per user request) it is now broken. I just identified this problem and am working on a fix.
oopps is this something thats caused by my request? Ill wait until it resolved before upgradeing and testing.
cheers
Hi Wolverine, i've just updated to JSMFRC2 and switched from my old discussbot (the one from Chadnsess) to yours.
I will suggest you some features of the Chadness mambot that i'd love to see in yours, but now i just want to tell you that Discussbot truncate the autogenerated SMF post when it founds a special character like (maybe others).
Consider that my Joomla/SMF are running with the UTF-8 charset, set both on pages and DB. Don't know if this is a problem, i don't think so actually.
Thx and cheers!
strange problems :s
urls seems to change sometimes and leading to wrong places :s i don't know what's wrong but i try to explain it:
topic title is "de nacht van 4-5 november" the link is /component/option,com_smf/Itemid,140/topic,450.msg5807/#msg5807
but it goes to the wrong topic, it was topic 775 /component/option,com_smf/Itemid,140/topic,775.0/
and just before i saw this, when i clicked a topic i ended in the ip trace page of smf.
i run latest CB, latest CB plugin and JSMF RC2
in teh recent messages link, when you want to click on the message, it leads to the wrong page, this is only with the first link: /component/option,com_smf/Itemid,140/action,recent/start,40/
hmm totally goes wrong :s see attachement, seems that a topic link will delete an account. This is with several links in my forum, just like the ones i explained above :s
some errors:
8: Undefined variable: jsmfConfig
Bestand: /components/com_smf/smf.class.php
Regel: 1100
97 pages full of the same error
Hi Wolverine, can you update what was changed in the new cb-smf plugin? What's the expected behavior now if I remove avatar in CB? Will it set the user's smf avatar setting to no avatar now..? I've edited my plugin quite abit, so it'll be great if i know what i'm getting into first before upgrading it :) thanks!
Something went wrong with CB's update image function after upgrading to JSMF RC2.
When i submit a display picture on CB's profile page, it goes to a white page with lots of words that seems like the contents of a database object and a javascript alert of "1". After clicking the OK button on the javascript alert, it goes back to the CB edit image page (the page where you choose the image file to upload) without the "Your image was successfully uploaded" message. Normal behavior is supposed to go back to the user's profile page with the successful message shown.
Both avatars in CB and SMF are updated, but there's obviously something wrong with the javascript alert and object output.
Rgds, Mike
***Solution: I've found the problem. I think you forgot to remove a debug line in administrator/components/com_smf/admin.smf.class.php on line 1122. Just remove "mosErrorAlert(print_r($extras));" :)
The only change at this point was to better handle user updates by registering on onBeforeUserUpdate instead of after.  Then if there is a problem in SMF we don't update something in CB and cause an unsynchronized state.
I have both Joomla 1.0.11, SMF 1.1RC3 and CB 1.01 installed and everything is working fine except when I try to sync the users in the installation of the bridge, and I have around 500, I get the message "The requested URL's length exceeds the capacity limit for this server." What do I have to do to sync the users because I also use the CB login and I cant login either with the users from SMF.
(Note the forum was formerly standalone, thats why I have 500 users)
Title: Re: JSMF 2.0RC2
the problem is that the username restrictions in Joomla are greater than SMF so it is failing to create the new users in Joomla.  Joomla returns error messages on the URL and because you more than likely have quite a few users that have failed username validation the url is very long.
Hmm but now I have imported the users through CB and I still can't login although the user exist...
most user sync issues are caused by usernames/names with weird characters. I've read through several posts (here and on forums.joomla.org) on such issues and it seems the only way is to manually reset those names with special characters.
Also to add that the users I tried to sync weren't unusual and didn't have any special characters
Hello there.
I've experienced kinda all the discussed problems.
My actual Version Information:
Joomla version is: 1.0.11
SMF version is: 1.1 RC3
Joomla-SMF version: 2.0 beta 3
SMF CB Plugin: 2.0 (Joomlahacks)
Now, I've another problems due to different cookies TTL.
I mean, sometime happens that I see my connection UP (who's online module) but i see the JSMF Login module asking me to sign in/up...
In these cases I have to login twice or close browser to re-align the situation.
I hoped that RC1 or 2 will solve them but now I'm worried.
Wolv, do u suggest me to upgrade (both JSMF and SMF CB plugin) or to wait for the next version/release.
Please, Realize that site is now in live status...
Btw, I could re-enable your administrator credentials if you want to check it up directly.
Many many thanks in advance,
ArMyBoT
did this just start happening?  Pretty much, if you go to the forum and you are not logged into one or the other you will be logged out of both.  However, no way to really catch that on the front page hence the strange behavior you saw.  Increasing your session lifetime in SMF should help.
Hi, when I click the link for SMF from my main Joomla! menu, Apache begins to 'hang', sometimes generating an error message, but more often just getting stuck in loading the page (index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=4). Often, I can see the wrapped forum, but page loading hangs at about 90% of the process. At this point, Apache begins to dominate CPU power, taking > 97% generally and if I open a new tab (Firefox) to serve pages from localhost, they will not load. The issue sounds similar to a previous post about CPU resource consumption going way up, but that was related to a large user base. In my case, there is happening after fresh installs with only one user: admin.
I am using:
Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1 RC3
Community Builder 1.0.1
JSMF 2.0 RC2 with CB plugin
Xampp 1.5.1 to serve pages locally on Windows XP.
I'd appreciate any help I can get, as I'd really like to get this going. I have retried with fresh installs (simultaneously) of Joomla, SMF, CB, and JSMF and no other components, modules, etc.
Thanks.
P.S. I know RC3 is eminent, but I wanted to put this "out there".
I installed 2.0 RC2 and it works really great, had no problems at all :)
Only thing I can't find is the option that automatically the avatar of someone's CB profile is ported to SMF. The only option I saw is that a user have to this themselves by the smf_profile CB plugin.
Have I missed this option or is this a feature for later?
instead of index.php?option=com_smf&ampaction=announce&sa=selectgroup&topic=788
Hey Wolverine,
Is the problem I stated above an issue that will be fixed in RC3 or is it an isolated problem that only I am having trouble with??
Cheers
Andrew
fixed in RC3
other problems i've ran into:
users can not post a calendaritem, they ghet an error that the board id was not set.
when posting a new topic, and you want to announce a topic, the url is messed up: forum/index.php?action=announce;sa=selectgroup;topic=788
instead of index.php?option=com_smf&ampaction=announce&sa=selectgroup&topic=788
when you say messed up, is it the first url and should be the second?  Thanks
nope, i'm sorry
yhe link seems fine, but it's on the wrong place, a topic link is not that link
de fault of sendNotifications(): happened when trying to post a topic
in reply number 60 on this thread i already reported the problem including a screenshot so that you can see what's wrong:
http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/action,dlattach/topic,2566.0/attach,828/image
I have a bit of an idea what might be going on, but RC3 has more strict checking of the cache and I am suprised you are still having this problem.  I may reduce the cache points to see if I can eliminate this.  It is going to mean a slightly delayed RC3 for everyone, but I'd rather get the bug out than release it in a bad state :(
the messed up url is the first one and should indeed be the second ;)
the bug is indeed still in it, but not sooo big than before. links still gets wrong urls but at least it does not lead to 'delete account" :p hope it gets resolved ;)
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 54666 bytes) in /components/com_smf/smf.class.php on line 327
Forum unreacheable after three days of running JSMF 2.0 RC3, the caching might be the problem i guess.
SOlution was to resave the installation config.
Also if the Rest go finde i can`t use the MESSAGE System..
I use: SMF 1.1 RC3 and Joomla 1.0.11
somebody any idear???
Ive got the same problem,trying to move local site to hosted. Also SMF 1.1 RC3 and Joomla 1.0.11. You find any solution for this?
installed latest release last night (RC3 build 2) of JSMF and again URLS get transformed into the wrong, a normal topic link is now something like this:
component/option,com_smf/Itemid,140/action,quickmod/board,25.0/actions[659],sticky/sesc,2cfe3c8bd096ae1350618ac7b1d3e699/
some topic links are not there also.
When i click on admin to go the the administration side of smf i go to a topic instead of the adminpage.
so my problem still persists all the way on, i need to resave the config every time of JSMF to resolve the issue (cache gets recreated after saving?). What can be wrong?
Wolverine,
I upgraded to RC2 today, and since I am getting the following when users try to change their CB Image/Avatar:
A white page appears with the following, then the page refreshes itself back to the profile:
Edit Your Details
moscomprofiler Object ( [id] => 62 [user_id] => 62 [avatar] => 62_455861c7d0f8b.jpg [avatarapproved] => 1 [approved] => 1 [confirmed] => 1 [hits] => 1010 [_tbl] => #__comprofiler [_tbl_key] => id [_error] => [_db] => database Object ( [_sql] => UPDATE mos_comprofiler SET avatar='62_455861e0b33d2.jpg', avatarapproved=1, lastupdatedate='2006-11-13T12:15:28' WHERE id='62' [_errorNum] => 0 [_errorMsg] => [_table_prefix] => mos_ [_resource] => Resource id #13 [_cursor] => 1 [_debug] => 0 [_limit] => 0 [_offset] => 0 [_ticker] => 0 [_log] => Array ( ) [_nullDate] => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 [_nameQuote] => ` ) )
It seems to load the image into CB, but no thumbnail is generated on the CB Module or on the forum.
Also on this white page with the above text, a box pops up with just "1" in it and an "OK" button.  Clicking "OK" lets the page refresh.
you'll have to give me access to the site, I haven't been able to recreate this problem and several large sites have not reported any issues, so I am at a loss on your site.  Did you disable function caching?
no 3rd party sef
just normal SMF 1.3 (with official RC3 patch) with Joomla 1.0.11
JSMF CB plugin latest on CB1.0.2TB4
when it happens again i'll send you the complete html source, or do you really have to get acces to all?
good news, it's there again, i'm switching debugging on now
aargh, why is it always happening a day after saving the config, enabling the debugging option fixes everything, always when saving config everything works fine, then wait about a day and the problems appear...
But i can't let those debugmessages on on a live site, not good that all users see those messages :s
Will RC3 be fully compatable with CB 1.0.2 and joomla 1.5 ? Im going to wait untill all this is bug free and works together before launching my site, although im not sure if ill upgrade to Joomla 1.5 or not. whats the current eta on RC3 just out of interest?
RC3 is emminent... prolly this weekend.  And I have barely started on 1.5 compatiblity.  I probably won't really dive into it until at least Beta 2 which is who knows how long away.  Then you have at least one RC... its gonna be at least 3 months before J! 1.5 is stable enough to think about live sites.  Plus I have enough work to finish up here for the JSMF 2.0 final.
JSMF 2.0 RC3 is NOT compatible with 1.5. This is because it's not be able to apply the source patch on the index.php file.
CB1.0.2 is compatible with JSMF 2.0 RC3 (i'm running it a few weeks now together smoothly), CB1.0.2 is also fully compatible with 1.5 (if you have the latstest lmanguage plugin for it.
For 1.5, bestwait until the RC fase breaks trough, just an advice. Many things have changed again on the beta, the beta2 will contain modifications on the main sql so whoever that build a 1.5 site they'll have some problems :p
I have installed the hack (thanks for the work), but have some problems.
When i click on profil (under the avatar of the user) i get
"INSTALL com_smf ( SMF-Bridge: www.joomlahacks.com ) FIRST!"
okay i thought, lets do it. But how do i do that. I think i have to install the "cb_plugin_smf_2_0_1.zip" but dont know how.
Waht also dont work is the logout under the user name, nothing happens until i delete the cookie.
And when i click on memberlist it want direkt me to the CBE memberlist, it direkt me to the SMF memberlist (or is it not possible to get the CBE Memberlist)?
I know that this are a lot questions (and newbie questions too) but hope that you will help me.
Ok firstly, what do you mean by "hack"? What hack did you install? Also, when you said you clicked on profile, do you mean on the login module, or in the forums itself?
"cb_plugin_smf_2_0_1.zip" can only be installed if you have CB, not CBE (since CBE doesn't support plugins, AFAIK)
And lastly, yes, the memberlist in SMF does not direct to the CBE memberlist, although you can manually change the code of SMF's template files to do that.
Oh sorry, seems that my words wore not chosen wisely ;)
First, i dont get the error message any more, have reinstalled the CB.
For the memberlist i have chosen an other way, direct to the CBE memberlist. But why does is it not save my avatar (cant see the avatar over the UserLogin, but in the memberlist) and the avatar is also not in the forum (Before reinstall that worked) any tips?
So are you using CB or CBE? They are 2 separate software altogether, although much of their functions are the same.
Syncing of avatar requires cb_plugin_smf_2_0_1 installed via CB's (not CBE) plugin manager.
you can auto approve avatars... its in the CB admin options
actually, don't listen to me, I don't use CB that much so some of these others can help you better.  Or even moreso on www.joomlapolis.com
You should auto approve, just like what SMF does, since it'll be a pain if your user require the moderators' approval everytime they change a display pic. But if you wish to approve of any user activity, you need to install mod_comprofilermoderator.zip that came with the CB package. Instructions on the use of the moderator module can be found in CB's installation guide.
ALl i want to do is bridge joomla and smf... I downloaded the pdf, very well written, but I cant use this bridge because in the pdf it says my joomla and smf needs to be installed into the same db... im confused on that.. I have a separate sql db for joomla and one for smf... i thought that kind of install was common.. so if I cant use this because of how my install is, what can I use ?
Export your SMF tables into your Joomla DB, then change the server settings of SMF to edit the DB name.
How do i get avatars automatically synchronised between SMF and the CB? When my users upload the avatar and it is approved they have to klick on something like "sync avatar from CB to SMF".
I use the SMF Login (mod_smf_login), but users will not be logged of when they click on logout. they have to delete the cookie to get out of the system. What is the problem at this point?
Title: Re: JSMF 2.0RC2
Post by: p9939068 on November 18, 2006, 02:58:49 PM
Firstly, and this is purely my opinion, I think sites using CB with this bridge should be using the CB login module. When you use CB's registration and login, things seem clearer this way.
To get avatars automatically synchronized, install the cb_smf_plugin. However I do suspect that the plugin does not sync avatars that require moderator's approval. No idea about this, I've never set it to require approval.
I suppose your best bet will be to disable admin's approval to avatar upload, and switch to CB's login. If you're worried that your users may upload disapprovable images, CB actually allows the other users to report objectionable content. You will still be able to receive such notification through CB's moderators module.
Okay avatar prob is done. But there is one more problem. under the Joomla SMF Forum installation there is "Optional: Synchronize Joomla and SMF users(username or real name)." But where can i select what should be synched? There stands nothing like username or realname. When new users register they appear with there real name in tzhe forum, by clicking on the "real Name" the CD shows them with the username.
Thats what i have installed so far:
Good afternoon. I have a serious problem and I do not have nor idea of like solving it.
I use:
- Joomla 1.0.12
- SMF 1.1
- Com SMF 2.0
- Mod SMF Login 2.0.3
- SMF Arcade 1.5.1
- My web: www.malastic.com
- Forum in: www.malastic.com/foro
If I register to me through www.malastic.com/foro (using the connection to register itself = http://www.malastic.com/foro/index.php?action=register) it works perfectly.
The problem is that if I enter by Jooma (www.malastic.com) and give register (the route has changed a: http://www.malastic.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=72&action=register) leaves the first window to me to register to me, I give the data him, but no longer it leaves the following window confirmation and it does not get to register.
You could indicate to me that I must do. I feel my level of English, but I am Spanish and I am using google for the translation.
Thanks.
